As a Tax Director at DiLucci CPA Firm, you will be responsible for leading our tax department with excellence—overseeing complex tax projects, mentoring team members, conducting final review and ensuring our clients receive the highest level of expertise and service. The majority of your time will be spend final reviewing returns. In addition to this, you’ll play a key role in shaping the structure of the team, driving efficiency, and upholding our reputation for technical accuracy and genuine care.

Your responsibilities will include structuring and staffing the team effectively, identifying and developing high performers, and ensuring that technical tax research and complex issues are handled with precision. You’ll also provide direct mentorship to managers and senior tax preparers, offering both strategic direction and hands-on guidance.

Responsibilites

Lead and oversee all aspects of the tax department
Conduct final review
Conduct advanced research on complex and nuanced tax law issues
Structure and staff the tax team for maximum efficiency and productivity
Identify high and low performers and develop clear improvement or advancement plans
Provide technical oversight and quality control for tax returns and planning deliverables
Mentor and develop managers, seniors, and preparers through active coaching and feedback
Support firm leadership in process improvement and workflow optimization
Ensure all client communications align with firm standards and values
Stay current with changing tax laws and ensure compliance across all engagements
Foster a positive and collaborative team culture

Requirements

CPA or JD (required)
Minimum of 10+ years of Public Accounting tax experience with strong technical expertise
Significant management and leadership experience
Proven ability to build, mentor, and retain high-performing teams
Exceptional research and analytical skills for complex tax issues
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead under pressure
Client-focused mindset with high standards of integrity and professionalism
